ECG On-Demand and DHC Group are delighted to announce the promotion of Laura Smith from Head of Commercial to Director of Operations at ECG On-Demand.
Laura’s journey with ECG On-Demand is a testament to her dedication, adaptability and leadership. We caught up with Laura to talk about her journey at the company. Read more below to discover her story.
What has your progression looked like at ECG On-Demand, what types of roles have you worked in to get to your current position now.
I joined ECG On-Demand as a Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist in 2020 after working for the NHS for over 10 years. I had decided to leave the NHS after returning from maternity leave as I wanted more of a home/life balance. ECG On-Demand appealed to me as it was a remote position. I then gradually became more involved in the commercial and marketing side of the business. In 2022, I was given the opportunity to become the Head of Clinical, a role which I did for around 2 years. In 2024, shortly after the acquisition by DHC Group, a new opportunity arose for me to take the role as Head of Commercial.
What has been your favourite thing about working at ECG On-Demand?
Making the move from the NHS to ECG On-Demand has been the best decision I have ever made. My main reason for leaving the NHS was to take a step back from a senior role, as I was on the on-call rota 24/7 and had a young family of 3. I never imagined that nearly 6 years later I would be the Director of Operations as this is not something I ever saw myself doing, coming from a clinical background.
My favourite thing about ECG On-Demand has to be our whole team; all the hard work and dedication from our clinical, patient services, support, operations and commercial teams does not go unnoticed. I am also very thankful for development opportunities I have been given and being surrounded by a senior management team that has supported me.
What are you excited to learn or do in your new role?
I am excited to use my clinical and commercial experience to further develop and grow the services we offer at ECG On-Demand. There are still lots of exciting opportunities out there for ECG On-Demand and with continued hard work from all the team we will go on to achieve great things.
