Derick Todd

Derick Todd has been a Consultant Electrophysiologist in Liverpool since 2003. He is an expert in ablation and also in inherited Cardiac conditions. Derick has always been interested in ECGs and this is what first attracted him to work with arrhythmias. He has previously run courses in ECG teaching and has for many years trained the junior doctors in Liverpool on ECGs. Outside of work he enjoys family life and when time allows playing golf and tennis.

Dr Mark Sopher

Mark graduated from Guys Hospital London with a first class BSc and top in his year. With distinctions in his final MBBS, he undertook specialist research and training in cardiac arrhythmias at St George’s Hospital and the Brompton Hospital. He was awarded an MD for his thesis on new treatments for atrial fibrillation. In 2005 he was appointed as consultant cardiologist for the Royal Bournemouth Hospital setting up a regional centre for cardiac ablation and complex device procedures. He holds a Clinical Excellence Award (level 7.1).

Michael Bowes

Dr Bowes is a Consultant Paediatric Electrophysiologist. He was trained in general paediatrics in the North West before specialising in paediatric cardiology at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Subsequently, Dr Bowes acquired further specialist training in Electrophysiology at Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.

Dr Bowes’ areas of expertise include childhood arrhythmia, invasive electrophysiology, implantable devices, channelopathies and inherited cardiac conditions. Dr Bowes works closely with adult colleagues in both Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital and Manchester Heart Centre to help provide a joined-up, whole family service for those impacted by inherited cardiac conditions such as long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome and CPVT.
