Technomed were proud to pickup the hotly contested Innovators of the Year Award at the General Practice Awards 2012 for their ECG On-Demand (formally ECG Cloud) 12-lead ECG interpretation service. The award was presented at the Hilton, Park Lane by comedian and clinician Dr. Phil Hammond.
The award recognises the effectiveness of Community Outpatients cardio-telemedicine service, a joint venture between Technomed and Concordia Health.
The introduction of the while-you-wait cardio-telemedicine service has enabled early engagement with specialist cardiology expertise ensuring secondary care referral only occurs if the diagnostic result indicates that secondary care attention is immediately required, or that all diagnostic or treatment options have been exhausted in primary care. This strategy has significant economical and patient healthcare benefits.
Mark Hashemi, Managing Director commented; “We are extremely pleased this service is recognised by the judges at this national award, especially as we were one of 18 entries from across the country that were shortlisted.”
The cardio-telemedicine service, introduced in 2011, provided through the ECG Cloud, delivers remote ECG interpretation through delivery of a virtual outpatient department experience directly to a clinician. It supports clinicians when managing patients in a primary care setting and reduces inappropriate secondary care referrals. The ECG Cloud service offers GP practices, medical centres, and hospitals access to immediate, expert, interpretation of ECGs, thereby saving the NHS money by reducing outpatient referrals (by 50%) and improving patient care by reducing waiting within a fully audited process.
